One of the most anticipated party events of the year is finally here and this is how to enjoy St. Patrick's Day to the fullest. And with the luck of the Irish on your side, you'll surely have a great time at one of these grand Irish celebrations.
MALONEY'S IRISH PUB
A huge outdoor tent party begins at 2 p.m. Look for green beer, live bands, bull riding and huge giveaways. Few have been putting on a bash this big, this successful for this long. 955 E. University Drive, Tempe, 480.894.2224
TILTED KILT
They claim there will be "enough Guinness to fill the river Liffey in Dublin!" Festivities here will start at 11 a.m. in the parking lot. Two beer trucks, two bars, a Red Bull tent and barbeque picnic area will be present at the site. During happy hour, the band Budweezer will be performing and Phunk Junkees follow at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A cover charge of $12 will begin at 4 p.m. 7077 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, 480. 922.8424
R.T. O'SULLIVAN'S SPORTS GRILL
Have an authentic Irish dish like the Guinness-simmered pot roast along with your favorite alcoholic beverage and watch some international rugby and soccer games. And if you're low on money this St. Patty's Day, then enjoy a $2.50 Harp lager bottle or a pint of Guinness for just $3.50 during happy hour. 1010 W. Southern Avenue, Mesa, 480.844.1290
CASEY MOORE'S OYSTER HOUSE
Another year, another famous Casey Moore's St. Patrick's Day. This is usually among the biggest St. Patty's Day celebrations in Tempe and offers an expanded bar area, Irish food and general madness. Call for details and prices.
850 S. Ash Avenue, Tempe, 480.968.9935
THE PAPER HEART ST. PATTY'S DRINKING (AND COMEDY) SHOW
A drinking game is always fun but with five comedians,
it's dangerously fun. Here are the rules: five comedians will perform stand up for 15 minutes. When they tell a joke and get a laugh, the audience has to drink. If they tell a joke and don't get a laugh, the comic has to drink. There's one more great thing about this show; $1.50 for Miller High Life. Admission is $7 at the doors. The laughs start at 9:30 p.m. 750 N.W. Grand Avenue, Phoenix, 602.262.2020
K O'DONNELL'S BAR AND GRILL
They're celebrating their two-year anniversary with a Paddy O' Party, featuring green beer. Look for fun entertainment, great company and delicious Irish food. If you're an "enthusiastic and dedicated guest," they'll be offering cab rides. 14850 N. Northsight Boulevard, Scottsdale, 480.922.7200
FIBBER MCGEES' BAR AND RESTAURANT
Here's another parking lot party with an attractive band lineup. It starts out with Blackwood, Walked and The Scones. The party stars at 11 a.m. and goes 'til late. Their theme is a quote from a famous Irish man who said, "Work is the curse of the drinking class" and this party wants to prove him right. 1989 W. Elliot Road, Suite 19, Chandler, 480.722.9434
MULLIGAN'S BRICK BAR
Those looking for Scottsdale-style fun on St. Patrick's Day are heartily encouraged to check out Mulligan's Brick Bar, heart of the 16th Annual St. Patty's Day Stetson Drive Block Party. Festivities begin at noon. VIP packages are also available for the day. 7318 E. Stetson Drive, Scottsdale, 480.947.8188. Call for full details.
RULA BULA
Here's a favorite Tempe Irish pub and restaurant and here's what they have to celebrate their favorite saint: the party starts at noon and the band lineup starts with Paddy's Peg Leg and ends with Keltic Cowboys. Bring your friends and hit the reasonably-priced pub to enjoy your drinks from noon 'til 1:30 a.m. 401 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe, 480.929.9500
SEAMUS MCCAFFREY'S IRISH PUB AND RESTAURANT
If you want to start your celebration with a relaxing cup of Irish coffee, then do it. Throw in some step dancing and crafts at Seamus McCaffrey's while you're at it. They will be serving food all day with a special whiskey cake for dessert. 18 W. Monroe, Phoenix, 602.253.6081
24TH ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY
What better way to celebrate the Irish than watching the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Faire? Irish music, step dancing, bagpipers, Irish clubs and, most importantly, Irish food and beverages will all be there; so will Sandra Day O'Connor, who is this year's Grand Marshal. The parade starts at 10 a.m. Third Street and Virginia south of Margaret T. Hance Park, Phoenix
THE VINE
Celebrate right across the street from ASU's Tempe campus with $2.50 pints of green beer, $2.75 domestic pints, $3 Guinness, $5 Irish Car Bombs and $2 Bushmill shots. Traditional Irish food served all day long, too. 801 E. Apache Boulevard, Tempe, 480.894.2662
