A failed actress who took to songwriting in 2006 after finding herself laid up in bed with a broken foot, Nash posted her demos on MySpace, only to have former Myspace sensation Lily Allen give her a big endorsement. Unlike Allen, though, Nash doesn't live up to the hype. The 20-year-old Brit's best tracks like "Foundations," "We Get On" and "Merry Happy" boast a furious wit but other numbers sound more like rhymed chat-room ravings than real songs. Musically, Allen's bouncy ska tracks have a spiky elegance; Nash's souped-up piano ballads and boyfriend-bashing pop pastiches resemble Tori Amos produced by Tricky. Absolutely cringeworthy.
