Avast ye! September 19 marks international “Talk like a Pirate Day.” To celebrate, the Arizona Cosairs and the Tavern on Mill will bring together pirate fans from all over Arizona.
Whether you love pirate culture or just want to have fun, this event is sure to be memorable. It is also a great excuse to dress like a pirate on Mill Avenue and not look like a crazy person.
What ye should expect in this celebration:
• Buccaneers will be outfitted in their finest pirate costumes. A contest will be held for the best costume, so if ye dress up ye could be bringing home some booty.
• Grog and Rum specials. The Arizona Corsairs will be distributing specially-made coins to use as currency for drinks. They are one-of-kind so you might want to keep one as a souvenir.
• Live sword fight demonstration. Not just a toy fight, Old Salts trained in the art will be showing ye how it is really done. There will be three demonstrations throughout the night. You never know when you’ll need these skills to avoid being shark bait.
• Pirate singing. Shiver me timbers! This is sure to bring down the ship.
• Aye! There will, of course, be a talk like a pirate contest. Show off your pirate talking skills or come to learn some new phrases.
