Think of the Phoenix Experimental Arts Festival as a place where one can let their inner artist out, whether that be through dance, music – or everything really. It’s basically the event to come to with hair undone, clothing a little crazed and your wild dance skills polished and ready for action.

In this fourth annual event, people are invited to experience regional and local artists in a festival that celebrates the unknown and undiscovered areas of the human imagination.

Among the artists who will be showing their work, Jeff Falk will present an exhibit called “Wasteland Circus.”

His work deals with lost childhood images and incorporates painting, drawing, collage, glue, paper, wood, canvas and more.

Along with exhibitions and dancing, there will also be music. Another composer showing his talent will be Steve Reich, who will be performing his act called “Drumming.”The piece will consist of an ensemble of percussionists and vocalists, and a single flute player.

Also playing is a local jazz quartet named Jiggle that works with electric and acoustic instruments to create a whole new sound.

Expect talented dance troupes and performance art collaborations from local artists, theater companies and visual artists, too.

Some of the other groups presenting this semester include Theater in My Basement, CONDER/dance, Easy Worship Operator, Mary Fitzgerald Dance and Via Corpo Dance Research.

In this music, dance and mixed media festival that praises those who are a little avant-garde; don’t be afraid to let out your inner freak and have a little fun.
