As you walk into the Roc Bar and Grill, a sign greets you that says “Our House Wine is Jägermeister.” ‘Nuff said. This is a bar’s bar.

They have Blue Moon, Coors, Bud, Heineken and Guinness on tap as well as $2 you-call-its and $2 Jäger shots. Can’t beat that. Legend has it that the burgers are out of this world, unfortunately, I cannot provide any proof of this notion myself.

Normal background bar sounds – thumping music and the sloshing of men trying to hit on women – are interrupted by a game at the electronic dart board, activity at both pool tables, the selection at the karaoke machine and the merriment at the old-school arcade tucked in the corner.

Dimly lit with neon signs from various types of beers and the flat screen televisions that line the entire perimeter of the bar, one can sit and stew without the harshness of fluorescent lights, or enjoy a drink with buddies while the game is on.

There’s something for everyone at this bar. Take your pick of the in-house entertainment, or come on Sundays and Tuesdays for poker nights and $2.25 domestic pints, Monday for 50 cent domestic drafts from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesdays for open mic night, Thursdays for trivia night and $2 wine, wells and drafts or the weekend just for cheap drinks and a whole lot of fun.
