In an economic climate not so friendly to most businesses, Regions Bar and Bistro has made a bold opening on Mill Avenue. Carrying over the same vibe and concept of its sister location in Scottsdale, Regions is classy and relaxed.

There’s a bar area with huge windows that look out onto the long outdoor patio and Mill Avenue. There’s also a sleek dining area with banquette seating and several tables.

Every day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to

11 p.m. is happy hour with $1 off wells and beers as well as a special wine menu featuring $5 glasses. They also offer a happy hour menu with $3 and $4 small plates like gorgonzola fries and shrimp cocktails.

Since this place is brand new, right now they’re only offering beer in bottle form, but general manager Bradley Hampton promises drafts by the end of May. But the bottle beer isn’t so bad; they have some hard-to-find American craft beer options. Hampton also said to be on the look out for a patio addition, DJs and live bands and specials involving Arizona State University Sun Cards.

If you just can’t wait for all the new stuff, check out the Sunday brunch, already underway, which consists of your choice of muffin, main dish and dessert and includes a Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you’re looking for something a little different, a nice upscale place with a lounge-y feel, look no further than Regions.
