Ahh. There’s nothing like a pool party. The great thing about a pool party is that you never know what is going to happen. Most of the time, nothing short of awesome hilarity ensues. The following is a list of five famous pool scenes in which the unexpected happens.

5. “Meet the Parents,” 2000: Poor Ben Stiller, it seems as if he can never catch a break when he plays Gaylord Focker in the film. It this pool scene, Focker is having a bad game at pool volleyball. Trying desperately to impress his girlfriend’s parents, he overcompensates and ends up spiking the ball into the face of the bride-to-be.

4. “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” 1982: Linda, played by a young Phoebe Cates, takes off her infamous red bikini, and Brad, played by Judge Reinhold, watches. The door opens and thus begins the dream of every teenage boy in the 1980s.

3. “It’s a Wonderful Life,” 1946: While this film is a bit older than the rest, once you see it, the pool scene is unforgettable. Jimmy Stewart, playing George Bailey, is dancing to impress a girl. Little does he know that the floor on which he is dancing opens up to reveal a pool. People fall in fully-clothed and others jump. Let the fun begin.

2. “The Sandlot,” 1993: Marley Shelton, who plays hot lifeguard Wendy Peffercorn and Chauncey Leopardi, who plays eager pre-pubescent kid Michael “Squints” Palledorous. He “drowns” and she saves him. Or almost saves him. The simplicity of it all is the most appealing.

1. “Caddyshack,” 1980: Bathroom humor at its best. Picture this: a Baby Ruth bar floating along in a public pool.
