Up-and-coming designers join the runways with both national and internationally renowned names at Scottsdale Fashion Week at the beautiful and scenic Scottsdale Waterfront, which kicks off Thursday with a free viewing of The Wearable ArtWalk.

The Wearable ArtWalk showcases models dressed in outstanding original pieces of 'wearable art,' clothing and jewelry from nationally and internationally celebrated wearable artists.

Hosted by downtown Scottsdale's Fashion Square District, SFW promises to be three days of energetic vision in the world of fashion as a way of life.

Featured designers include Kevan Hall, bebe, Escada, Banana Republic, CH Carolina Herrera, Barneys New York plus more on the Main Tent Stage Runway.

On Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m., the outdoor SouthBridge Open Runway will feature fresh new designers including 'iuk iuk' from 'Designer of the Year 2009,' Arizona State alum Alina Samasiuk.

Samasiuk made clothes as a child. "I have been designing and making clothes since the age of 12," says Samasiuk, who graduated from ASU in 2007. "I make clothes for women; anyone who appreciates my work makes me feel good to see them in it."

Her company, iuk iuk was created two years ago, but her award-winning Spring 2010 collection "was developed in four months," says Samasiuk, who states that her spring collection is full of "pleated and draped fabric in solid colors."

"All of the garments can be worn back to front and in some of the designs I played with the idea of apron skirts that can be worn in multiple ways."

Samasiuk's 'iuk iuk' line will hit the runway Friday at 6 p.m.
