I don't mean to write another column ragging on boys, but after talking with some guy friends this weekend, I need to make sure that all girls are aware of a very important fact: some guys will spend time with you - even a lot of time - and money, for that matter, if they don't like you at all, all in hopes that one day you'll eventually sleep with them.

Turns out that guys will grin and bear it, even if just talking to you annoys them to the point that they don't even like you as a person, just hoping to one day sleep with you. Here you are thinking that there's this guy that totally has a crush on you - he calls and texts and takes you out - and you think, 'wow, this guy totally wants me.' He might, or it's possible that he can't stand you at all.

It's crazy to me that guys would devote all that time, but I guess they look at it like they don't really have anything else going on with other girls, so why not? It's not like they're writing love letters or looking for ways to truly make you happy; they're just there doing the bare minimum, waiting.

But guys, wake up: you might never get the chance to sleep with her. There's a chance you're waiting for a girl who's using you, too. A lot of girls will keep guys around as "friends" (well, that's how they put it, anyway), just because they're bored and who doesn't like the attention? Almost every girl I've known throughout my life has had a guy friend who she knows likes her and, with absolutely no intention of ever hooking up with him, will let him take her out, call, text, etc. But I guess that's just the nature of being single; maybe both sexes just use each other while they're waiting to meet that right person.

Just be aware that your "friend" might not like you at all. But if you're happy with the situation, enjoy; it's no skin off his back.
