Pablo Francisco's jibber-jabber makes anything funny

Not to worry, these are the words of Pablo Francisco, aka "Movie Trailer Guy," the world-renowned stand-up comedian set to unleash his arsenal of characters at Tempe Improv.
Francisco has an uncanny ability to flip otherwise mundane observations and trite storylines from pop culture into gut-busting sets using spot-on impressions of movie stars, singers, random wonks and characters of his own creation.
Which begs the question: how the hell can one guy be so funny?
"I'm honest," Francisco says, "Wild with a dash, divided by the square root of, uh, how can I divide myself?"
Really, it's all about the voice, he admits.
"Audiences don't laugh if I speak in my normal voice, but when I say the exact same sentence in my movie guy voice, they go hysterical," he says.
Still, the comic's act feels very real, the material rarely gimmicky. If it seems unforced, it's because it is, Francisco says.
"The main thing I do is notice everything and something that catches my attention and stays in my head all day is something I would talk about," he says.
Francisco says he gets his ideas from everyday situations, from having lunch to a trip to the gas station. He talks about what people brag about; jobs, money, relationships, etc. He talks about sports and travel. It's very current and very conversational.
"I would say that stupid, mundane things catch my attention," Francisco says.
But when filtered through Francisco's sharp sense of humor, simple ideas become warped and hysterical - and therein lies the genius of "Movie Trailer Guy."
