In its fifth year, the festival at the Paradise Valley Community College is brimming with dance troupes, experimental electro-acoustic music ensembles and other performance art.
At 6 p.m., the visual art exhibit, "Game Show," opens in the gallery-lobby with work from Angela Ellsworth, Mary Lucking, Rico Reyes and students of Vasna Dragojlov at the University of Advancing Technology.
On the main stage at 7:30 p.m.
will be musical performances from Iannis Xenakis, a percussive ensemble's "Pliedies" and Crossing 32nd Street, which was named Phoenix's "Best New Classical Music Ensemble" by The Arizona Republic. These sets are joined by Armadillo Dance Project, visual artist Adria Pecora, Barry Moon and Douglas Nottingham's mized media "d3," CONDER/dance's "Evolution" and Mary Fitzgerald Dance's "Habitats: The Border Between Us."
Closing out at 10 p.m. is the multimedia work "Radio Healer" by Los Humanos. "Radio Healer" is a Native American production that blends programmatic music, dance and spoken word to enact a story about a cyborg shaman who broadcasts radio-medicine in order to find a way to universally heal a diverse society.
Parking is free. Student tickets are $8, seniors/staff are $10, adults are $12, children are $5.
